1. Check the surroundings

- The area where the generator is located should be equipped with fire extinguishers according to the correct standards.

- Before operating the machine, check the surroundings to see if there is anything unusual.

- Check the fire extinguisher to see if it is still working properly.

- The manager, maintainer and operator of the generator must understand the structure, operating principles and comply with the regulations and instructions of the manufacturer for each type of generator managed or comply with the regulations on management, maintenance, use and operation of this regulation.

- Do not change oil, refuel, or clean while the machine is running; When adding fuel or coolant, the machine must stop for 10 to 15 minutes (the engine is completely cool), after adding fuel or water, the fuel tank cap and the coolant tank on the machine must be tightened.

- When operating or touching any part of the machine, make sure your hands are dry and your body is insulated from the ground.

- Regularly check the load in use to ensure that the total capacity of the load is within the continuous working capacity limit of the machine (as required by the manufacturer).

- Do not supply power to the load by plugging or connecting directly to the electrical outlets, electrical panels of architectural works (buildings) or the input of complex power consuming equipment without going through an overcurrent protection device and a 2-way switching device.

2. Provide protective gear

Operators should be equipped with protective gear according to the following requirements:

- Noise cancelling headphones

When the generator is operating, it makes noise. If there are many generators operating at the same time in an environment, the operator should wear noise-canceling headphones to ensure the best health.

- Insulated safety shoes

In addition to protecting operators from stepping on sharp, slippery objects, safety shoes for the electrical industry must meet insulation requirements to ensure operator safety.

- Safety glasses: protect eyes, avoid objects flying into the operator's eyes.

3. Machine operation

- Check:

Check the lubricating oil (with the dipstick, the oil must always be at the allowed level) to see if it is enough, if it is not enough, add it, to avoid the lack of lubricating oil leading to unfortunate damage.

Check the coolant, the water must always be full, if it is not enough, add it, to avoid the lack of water leading to overheating, piston seizure, and blown cylinder gasket.

Check the belt to see if it is loose, if it is loose, tighten it, if it is damaged, replace it.

Check the battery terminals to see if they are tight, if they are loose, tighten them.

- Generator operation

The operation of the generator depends on the controller used on the generator.

For the generator lines provided by KPS, we use Datakom controllers, the detailed operating instructions will be as follows:

Turn on the generator.

If the machine has ATS, just check that the AUTO button is on and the machine is ready to operate automatically.

If the machine does not have ATS, then operate according to the following steps:

- Unlock the battery voltage.

- Press the button with the symbol Requirements   for operating industrial generators to run in manual mode.

- Press the button Requirements   for operating industrial generators to start the machine.

Check after the machine starts:

- After the generator has started, wait for the machine to run for about 5-10 minutes, let the machine run stably, the lubrication, cooling systems and engine temperature have met the requirements.

- Then the operator loads the machine for the machine to work.

Note: the operator should load slowly, avoid sudden loading, which is not good for the generator.

- After the generator has been fully loaded, the operator checks the following parameters:

1. Is the voltage on the display correct, is the voltage of the phases much different, the required voltage is 220V.

2. Is the current of the load in the phases even?

3. Is the frequency correct?

4. What is the current capacity of the machine?

5. Does the engine speed meet the requirements? Usually the speed is 1500RPM

6. Engine oil pressure

7. Coolant temperature

8. How much fuel is left in the tank?

9. Battery voltage.

Turn off the generator.

- When you want to turn off the generator, disconnect the power from the generator to the load.

- Press the button with the symbol Requirements when operating industrial generators  to turn off the machine, the machine will automatically turn off after pressing the off button for a few minutes, just press it once and do not hold it down.

Note: The operator must understand the above procedure to avoid the machine from overloading when there is not enough time for the oil to lubricate the machine parts. If any parameters are not as required, the machine should be turned off, then cooled down and checked again. Compliance with the correct operation of the generator helps the machine to operate efficiently and for a long time.
